The European Union (EU) mission in Libya said today, Saturday, that Libya is one of the countries most affected by the effects of climate change and rising temperatures.
Commenting on a dust storm in the Libyan capital (Tripoli) today, the mission called on the Libyan authorities to plan to mitigate the severe effects of climate change and its consequences on the country, according to what was reported by the Libyan News Agency.
The mission warned that climate change will cause severe droughts, water scarcity, severe fires, rising sea levels, floods and catastrophic storms, a decline in biopersity, and challenges in agriculture.
Most areas of northern Libya are hit by strong winds of up to 60 kilometers per hour, especially in coastal areas; which caused dust and a drop in horizontal vision, according to the weather forecast of the Meteorological Center in Libya.
