European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Thursday that Italy has reduced the share of Russian gas in supplies from 40% to about 10%.

Earlier, the Italian Minister of Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Becchetto Frattin, said that Italy still needs Russian gas, as it receives an average of 20 million cubic meters per day of blue fuel from Russia.

Moreover, the leading Italian oil and gas group 'Eni' reported that Italy will be able in 2022 to replace about half of Russian gas, or 9.7 billion cubic meters.

As for the year 2023, this volume will reach 80%, or 17.6 billion cubic meters, and in 2025, the company intends to completely abandon gas supplies from Russia.
