Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Company, a US giant, and the wealthiest tycoon in the world, has warned that the Japanese population will die out unless it reverses the trend of the declining birth rate.
Musk responded to a tweet by the Japanese Kyodo News Agency, which indicated that the country's population witnessed the largest decline ever in 2021.
"Unless something changes that lead to the birth rate exceeding the death rate, Japan will eventually cease to exist as a country, and this will be a great loss to the world," said Musk, who recently acquired Twitter, in a post on his account on the site.
For its part, the Japanese news agency "Kyodo" indicated that Musk's statements came in response to a tweet posted by the agency last April, which said that Japan's population fell by a record 644,000 people to just over 125.5 million in 2021.
