Tesla chief executive Elon Musk, after meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, pledged "significant investments" in India's economy and the localization of his project to produce "Tesla" electric cars in this country.
"I am confident that Tesla will be in India and will do so as soon as humanly possible… it’s quite likely that there will be a significant investment, a relationship with India,” Musk said, after meeting Modi in New York as he begins a three-day visit to the US.
He thanked the Indian prime minister for his support of his plans, and added that he hopes to announce something in the near future.
Musk also revealed his intention to visit India next year.
