El Hanager Theater will host a film-screening event for a Russian military drama feature “Father of Soldier” next Saturday.
The event is part of film screening series organized by the Cairo Film Society directed by cinematographer Mahmoud Abdel Samie, and the Cultural Development Fund directed by Dr. Fathy Abdel Wahab.
Directed by Rezo Chkheidze, the film was produced in 1964, and it was premiered on January 11 in 1965.
Abdel Samie highlighted that this screening is part of the protocol signed with the Russian Cultural Center. In addition, the Cairo Film Society screened various Russian films and the Center has hosted several occasions of the Film Society.
On his side, Arseny Starkov, the deputy head of the Russian Cultural Center in Cairo, said that the center is always interested in cooperating with the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, Cairo Film Society.
He also praised the role of the Cultural Development Fund for screening the Russian film, adding that this event is part of Egypt-Russia Humanitarian Exchange Year.
Sherief Gad, the director of the cultural activities at the Russian center and the deputy head of the Cairo Film Society, highlighted that this event is on the occasion of Russia’s celebrations with Victory Day.
He concluded that the new season of activities will see strong cooperation between the film society and the Russian center.
