Saudi Arabia announced the date of Eid al-Adha after observers across the country were asked to look at the sky for the first crescent of the new moon.
Officials said the moon was not seen on the evening of July 9, which means that the current 11th month of Dhul-Qa'dah will last another day until July 10. That then means the 12th and final month, Dhul Hijjah, starting on Sunday, July 11.
Within that month, Arafat Day falls on Monday, July 19, Eid al-Adha begins on Tuesday, July 20, and also means that the Hajj season will begin on Sunday, July 18.
