Egypt's Mufti receives a high-level Indonesian delegation, discusses enhancing mutual religious cooperation

His Excellency Dr. Shawki Allam, Egypt's Grand Mufti, received a distinguished Indonesian delegation headed by Professor Dr. Nasr al-Din Umar, the President of the University of Quranic Sciences. Both parties discussed means to strengthen religious cooperation between the university and Egypt's Dar al-Ifta.

During the meeting, Dr. Allam presented the history of Dar al-Ifta since its establishment and the various tasks carried out by its departments to develop religious guidance, regulate fatwas, and provide accurate religious discourse to people. He highlighted the expansion of Dar al-Ifta in establishing numerous specialized departments related to religious edicts, as well as the utilization of modern technology to enrich religious guidance and keep up with global developments.

On their part, the Indonesian delegation expressed deep appreciation for the role played by Dar al-Ifta, led by the Grand Mufti, in regulating fatwa issuance, training and preparing muftis and enhancing their scholarly qualifications. They expressed their anticipation for further collaboration especially in the field of training Indonesian students on religious edicts, and supporting postgraduate students pursuing master's and doctoral degrees.
