General Coordinator of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects Ambassador Hisham Badr hailed UN agencies for their role in raising awareness about the importance of the climate change issue and supporting women to participate in the initiative.
During a press conference held in the new headquarters of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development in New Addemenestrative Capital, Ambassador Badr explained that the initiative contributes to developing smart and unprecedented solutions to climate problems, noting that the initiative is held under the patronage of the President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi.
He thanked the UN country representatives for assisting his Government in implementing six winning projects of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects in Dakahlia, Sharkia, and Fayoum Damietta governorates.
In turn, Tarek Abdel Monem, Environment and Climate Officer for the Near East, North Africa, Europe, and Central Asia International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), reiterated IFAD'S commitment to providing financial assistance for initiatives that promote SDGs.
UN Women Representative Crestin Arab also reiterated their willingness and availability to cooperate with the Egyptian government to empower more women through National Initiative for Smart Green Projects.
Meanwhile, UN-Habitat Representative Rania Hedeya reaffirmed her agency's commitment to working closely with the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development.
