On Sunday, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and acting Minister of Health and Population, issued a decision appointing Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar as an official spokesman for the Health Ministry of Health, in addition to his position as Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Universities.
The appointment of Dr. Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar as the Health Ministry spokesman comes in a succession of Dr. Khaled Megahed.
Notably, Abdel-Ghaffar was assigned duties of the Health Minister Hala Zayed until her recovery, says a decision issued by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli in October.
The Premier's decision No. 2901 of 2021 was published in the official gazette Al-Waqa'i' al-Misriyya.
Zayed was hospitalized three days ago due to a heart attack after officials at her office were arrested for corruption.
On 27 October 2021, Egyptian Attorney general Hamada El Sawy said that investigations are ongoing with a number of officials inside the Ministry of health for accusations of corruption.
