Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, was elected Tuesday as the Chairman of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers during the council’s 49th session at the Arab League headquarters.
The election, held on the sidelines of the ministerial meetings in Cairo, saw Sobhy secure the leadership role for a new term. In his victory speech, Sobhy expressed deep gratitude to his Arab counterparts for their continued confidence in Egypt’s leadership.
"This success reflects the prominent status of the Egyptian state and its dedicated efforts to foster Arab solidarity," Sobhy said. He pledged to intensify joint Arab initiatives in the coming year to better meet the aspirations of the region's youth and maximize their contributions to society.
In addition to Egypt's chairmanship, the elections determined the membership of the Executive Office, which now includes representatives from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, Morocco, Bahrain, Libya, Iraq, Algeria, and Palestine.
The council is expected to move forward with a series of coordinated programs under Sobhy’s leadership, focusing on digital innovation and regional sports integration.
