Egyptian TV Anchor Magda Abu-Heif Dies at 55

On the 12th day of 2020, Maspero Television Building lost one of its prominent figures.

"Beautiful Egyptian TV presenter and  anchor Magda Abu-Heif passed away at 55 due to health problems,” Maha Medhat, an  Egyptian TV presenter, said.

Abu-Heif was born in Cairo to an Egyptian father and Italian mother. She grew up speaking Italian, Arabic and English, but also knows conversational French, and other languages.

In addition to her focus on her family, she enjoyed a successful career as an anchor in the Egyptian TV.

Abu-Heif was one of the most successful rare Arab female anchors, an icon on profession dominated by men.

Abu-Heif was a broadcast presenter well known for hosting "Alaql Yaksb"( The brain always win), for more than 30 years.

The late anchor  passed away peacefully in her sleep at a private hospital in Cairo. Her oldest son Nadim Mohamed was with her.

The anchor's death was mourned by many, including several of her former Media colleagues, including Maha Mohsen and Dalia Hassan.

In the same context, Egypt’s Media Syndicate mourned the death of great anchor Abu-Heif.

“Veteran Egyptian anchor Magda Abu-Heif was a respected person who was a leading media scholar, great presenter and effective member of the Egyptian Television … God have mercy on her.” Tarik  Saada, head of the Egypt’s Media Syndicate, said.

Meanwhile, Simon, a remarkable leading star in Egypt, published through her account on “Instagram”, an obituary to the Egyptian great TV anchor Abu-Heif, who was her ideal role model.

Simon wrote: “Survival of God, the respected anchor Abu-Heif … very difficult news … God have mercy on her.”

In 2015, Abu-Heif appeared in an episode of the CBC entertainment program “Sahbt Al-Sadaa,” in what is believed to be her final TV appearance, according to domestic news agencies.

In an interview with Isaad Younis, TV host, on CBC channel, Abu-Heif said, “The assassination of Anwar Sadat was the worst event in my life."
