The Egyptian Russian Foundation for Culture and Science has released a new book titled “What You Don’t Know About Serbia and Belgrade from the Early Nineteenth Century,” authored by Goran Novakovic and translated by Walid Saeed Soliman.
In his remarks, Shadi Hussein Al-Shafi’i, President of the Egyptian-Russian Foundation for Culture and Science, praised the book for its cultural value and its comprehensive coverage of Belgrade's customs, traditions, and architectural heritage.
The book highlights various aspects of Belgrade, including the status of pharmacies, the sale and manufacture of medicines, transportation in the city, the presence of banks, and the local language and dialect. It also delves into the demographics of Belgrade, highlighting the changing composition of its residents over the years.
The author, Goran Novakovic, is a notable Serbian literary figure, born in Belgrade in 1962, and currently working in the cultural department of the Vienna city government.
It's worth mentioning that the book is published by the Egyptian Russian Foundation for Culture and Science with the support of the Adwaa Ali Copyright Initiative, coinciding with the 116th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Egypt and Serbia.
