The Central Bank of Egypt announced on Tuesday that the fiscal year 2024/2025 witnessed record-breaking remittances from Egyptians working abroad, which surged to 36.5 billion US dollars. This represents an extraordinary 66.2 percent increase compared to the 21.9 billion dollars recorded during the previous fiscal year 2023/2024.
The report highlighted strong performance in the final quarter of the fiscal year, with remittances between April and June 2025 rising by 34.2 percent year on year to reach 10 billion dollars, up from 7.5 billion dollars in the same period of 2024.
On a monthly basis, June 2025 set a historic record for expatriate remittances. Transfers in that month alone climbed by 40.7 percent year on year, hitting 3.6 billion dollars compared with 2.6 billion dollars in June 2024.
