Egypt's Ministery of Civil Aviation, the Egyptian national carrier "EgyptAir", and a member of the Global Star Alliance signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ghanaian side to establish a new airline.
This comes in accordance with the directions of the political leadership and the Egyptian government to strengthen the bonds of cooperation, support relations and exchange experiences with the countries of the African continent in various fields, including the aviation industry, and under the umbrella of the Civil Aviation Ministry headed by Pilot Mohamed Manar.
The announcement was made by Pilot Rushdi Zakaria, EgyptAir Holding Company's Chairman & CEO.
The M.O.U was signed by Mr. Joseph Kofi Ada, Minister of Civil Aviation of Ghana, and Pilot Hassan Mounir, EgyptAir Chairman Deputy, representing the Egyptian side.
Pilot Amr Abu El-Enein, of EgyptAir Airlines' chairman & CEO, said that the efforts of the Egyptian side to seize the opportunity have been successful, confirming, "We are pleased with the confidence of the Ghanaian government in choosing and preferring EgyptAir among the major European, Asian and African airlines for this strategic partnership in establishing a new airline operates from its headquarter in the Ghanaian capital, Accra, and its network of lines extends throughout Africa, connecting it with countries of North and South America."
Zakaria explained the depth of the historical relations between the two countries, Egypt and Ghana over the decades, stressing on EgyptAir's ability in supporting the cooperation between the two African countries in the field of civil aviation and meeting the logistical needs required to establish a strong airline capable of competing in the global market, achieving strategic goals for both sides.
It is worth mentioning that, the Egyptian state is very interested in strengthening cooperation between the Egyptian and African sides and is always striving by providing all modern and advanced means and capabilities for the development of the aviation industry in the African continent at all various fields.
This is not the first cooperation between the two brotherly countries in the civil aviation sector, where the company EgyptAir for Maintenance & Engineering, one of the subsidiaries of the EgyptAir Holding Company signed a contract with the Ministry of Civil Aviation in Ghana, to establish a center to provide technical services for all airlines operating to and from Kotoko International Airport in the Ghanaian capital, Accra, in 2018.
