Egypt welcomes UN security council resolution calling on ceasefire in Gaza

Egypt welcomed the resolution issued by the Security Council to support the deal to reach a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and what it included regarding the exchange of prisoners and hostages, the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, and the safe return of displaced Palestinian citizens to their homes in the various areas of the Strip, as well as ensuring full entry of humanitarian aid to meet the needs of the Gaza Strip population,  a statement issued from Egyptian foreign Ministry said.

The Arab Republic of Egypt stressed the importance of complying with obligations in accordance with the provisions of international law, calling on Israel to stop the war it is waging against the Gaza Strip, urging both Israel and Hamas to take serious steps towards completing this deal as soon as possible.

Concerning, what was stated in the resolution regarding the Security Council’s commitment to the vision of a two-state solution in accordance with the decisions of international legitimacy, Egypt reaffirmed the necessity of taking serious action by international parties to find the political horizon for implementing the two-state solution as it is the only guarantee for ending the crisis and supporting the pillars of stability and coexistence in the region.
