On Thursday, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, the Egyptian Minister of Health and Population, met with Alessandro Fracasetti, the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program in Egypt, and his delegation to discuss cooperation projects in the health sector.

The Ministry of Health and Population's official spokesperson, Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, stated that the meeting focused on the technical support mission from the regional office of the United Nations Development Program. The mission aims to provide support for the comprehensive institutional development project for the health sector in Egypt through the new structure of the Ministry of Health and Population. The project aims to develop new structures that can meet the requirements of society and provide the best health services to citizens.

Abdel Ghaffar added that during the meeting, the Minister listened to a detailed explanation of the proposed guidelines to support the institutional development of the health sector and its affiliated institutions. These guidelines were developed based on coordination meetings that took place between the members of the mission and the health sector institutions and bodies in Egypt.

Furthermore, the Minister directed the mission to cooperate with the Central Pharmacy Administration to develop principles to improve the process of storing and dispensing medicines. This includes linking systems between health institutions and rationalizing the dispensing of medicines based on the patient's actual need for the number of doses. This is to prevent the wastage of medicines.
