Egypt is set to receive 1.7 million doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine within the coming few days, according to Health Ministry spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar.
It is worth mentioning that Acting Health Minister, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, reviewed, last week, the latest epidemiological situation in Egypt in light of the new COVID-19 variant ‘Omicron’.
During the cabinet’s weekly meeting, Abdel Ghaffar presented a study on the efficacy of vaccines on the “Omicron” mutant, and the recommendations of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) regarding the period of isolation for infected people.
He also added that the total of vaccinations against COVID-19 in Egypt has reached 55.662.624 million doses, so far between the first and second doses.
Moreover, Abdel Ghaffar said that Egypt received on Sunday 2.3 million doses of coronavirus vaccines, adding that the shipments included 1.5 million doses produced by Pfizer, 462,000 doses from Moderna, and 352,800 doses from AstraZeneca.
