On Wednesday, Egypt announced that it will open the Rafah crossing on its border with the Gaza Strip in one direction for three days starting Thursday to allow stranded Palestinians to be repatriated, according to two security sources.
"Egyptian goods and aid will be allowed into the Gaza Strip too," the sources added.
The Ministry of the Interior of the Hamas government in Gaza said that Egyptian authorities notified it of the opening of the crossing in one direction on Thursday.
"Egypt closed the crossing on Monday until further notice," security sources said.
The crossing has been opened according to directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi since May 16, 2021.
This comes within the framework of the Egyptian efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian citizen in the strip, restore the normal life of people in Gaza and start the reconstruction process.
