The Russian Football Union has announced a friendly match against Egypt’s national team on May 28 at Egypt Stadium in the New Administrative Capital, as part of preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The fixture comes within Egypt’s broader build-up plan under head coach Hossam Hassan, with the team set to depart for the United States on May 29. A final high-profile friendly against Brazil is scheduled for June 6 in Ohio.

In recent days, Egypt had been weighing friendly options against Russia, Poland, and Croatia, but Hassan ultimately approved the Russia fixture, finalizing the schedule.

The coaching staff is also considering launching the national team’s training camp on May 16, potentially without Zamalek players if the domestic league concludes on May 15 as planned. The early start is intended to give the technical team more time to assess players before submitting the final World Cup squad to FIFA on May 30.

The friendly against Russia is expected to provide a strong test ahead of the global tournament, as Egypt looks to fine-tune tactics and squad selection for its return to the World Cup stage.
