The Russian Football Federation has announced a friendly match between Russia and Egypt, led by Hossam Hassan.

The match is scheduled for May 28 at Egypt Stadium in the New Administrative Capital as part of preparations for the 2026 World Cup.

Egypt will then travel to the United States on May 29 to continue their training camp ahead of the tournament. The team is also set to play a final friendly against Brazil on June 6 in the state of Ohio.

In recent days, Egypt had considered friendly matches against Russia, Poland, and Croatia, but the decision was finalized after approval from head coach Hossam Hassan to face Russia.

The coaching staff is also planning to begin the national team camp on May 16, potentially without players from Zamalek SC if the domestic league concludes as scheduled on May 15.

Hossam Hassan aims to start preparations early to closely evaluate players before submitting the final squad list to FIFA on May 30.

The Egyptian Premier League is expected to end on May 15, although Zamalek’s match against Ceramica Cleopatra FC has been postponed to May 20 due to Zamalek reaching the CAF Confederation Cup final.

The Confederation of African Football has scheduled the two legs of the final between Zamalek SC and USM Alger for May 9 and May 16.
