The shipping company, Leith Agensis, announced today, Monday, that the ship "Glory", which ran aground in the Suez Canal while transiting with the southern convoy near the city of Kantara, was successfully floated by the tugboats of the Suez Canal Authority.
The company added that 21 southbound ships will resume transit of the canal, with slight delays expected.
The head of the Suez Canal Authority, Lieut. Gen. Osama Rabae, stated earlier that the "Glory" ship's accident was slight and did not affect the navigation movement in the canal.
Data on two ship-tracking websites showed that the Glory was a Marshall Islands-flagged cargo ship carrying 65,000 tons of corn on board and was heading from Ukraine to China.
The head of the Suez Canal Authority confirmed that the authority's marine rescue team dealt professionally with a sudden technical failure of the machinery of the bulk ship "Glory" at the 38th kilometer passing within the northern convoy on its journey coming from Turkey and heading to China, where it is taking place.
In a statement today, Monday, Lieut. Gen. Osama Rabae sent a message of reassurance regarding the regularity of navigation in the canal.
