Egypt Strongly Condemns Israeli Cabinet's Decision to Occupy Gaza

Egypt strongly condemned the Israeli Cabinet’s decision to implement a plan for the full occupation of the Gaza Strip.

This move, Egypt asserts, aims to solidify Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestinian territories and continues the violent, genocidal campaign against the people of Gaza.

Egypt highlighted that such actions target the very existence of the Palestinian people by undermining their right to self-determination, independence, and the establishment of a sovereign state. This decision represents a direct violation of international law and human rights.

In a statement issued on Friday, Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its condemnation of Israel’s continued policies of systematic starvation, killing, and mass genocide against the defenseless Palestinian population. These actions, Egypt warns, will only escalate tensions, fuel conflict, and deepen hatred, further destabilizing the region. The statement also mentioned the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, caused by Israel’s brutal assault, which has led to unprecedented levels of suffering among the people of Gaza.

Egypt called on the international community, including the United Nations Security Council and all concerned parties, to urgently intervene and take action. Egypt emphasized the need for the global community to fulfill their political, legal, and ethical responsibilities in halting Israel’s lawlessness and militaristic arrogance. The Israeli government, according to Egypt, is attempting to impose a new reality on the ground through sheer force, which undermines peace efforts, thwarts the two-state solution, and perpetuates the occupation.

Egypt further emphasized that peace and stability in both Israel and the wider region are only achievable through the establishment of a Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. The path to lasting peace, Egypt insists, lies in a just resolution of the Palestinian issue, which has been a cornerstone of regional instability for decades.

The decision came after reports from Israeli media indicated that the Israeli Cabinet approved Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plan to fully occupy Gaza. The approval followed a marathon 10-hour meeting, signaling a major escalation in Israel’s military and political stance regarding Gaza. American news outlet Axios also confirmed the Cabinet’s endorsement of the full-scale invasion plan, further raising concerns about the situation’s escalation.

This latest Israeli decision has raised alarms internationally, with calls growing for immediate action to prevent further violence and ensure the protection of Palestinian lives. Egypt’s call for urgent intervention reflects the broader regional concern about the future of Gaza and the wider Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
