Two official delegations from Egypt and Russia reviewed on Tuesday a number of common-interest regional issues during a bilateral meeting held in Moscow.
The Egyptian delegation was headed by Ambassador Alaa Roushdy, the Assistant Minister for Multilateral Affairs and International Security. On the other hand, the Russian delegation was headed by Vershinin Sergey Vasilyevich, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Roushdy pointed out the depth of the Egyptian-Russian ties, underscoring the importance of exchanging points of view between both parties in the light of the current challenges, a statement issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated.
Both sides have reviewed a number of regional files and the latest conflicts in the Middle East region, therefore, both highlighted the importance of setting up a political methodology for ending the conflicts in Syria, Libya, and Yemen, alongside several African states.
Moreover, other issues were discussed in the meeting such as the possible way of reforming the Security Council, the upcoming Food Systems Summit, the climate change, and the peacekeeping process.
Meanwhile, the Egyptian delegation reviewed the most recent updates related to the Grand Ethiopian Rainnessance Dam (GERD), in addition, it shed the light on the importance of such a crisis to national security.
At the end of the meeting, both sides undertook to widen the horizons of their relationships, alongside enhancing the bilateral cooperation internationally during the upcoming period.
