Egypt Releases Al Jazeera Journalist Mahmoud Hussein

The lawyer and brother of Mahmoud Hussein, the Egyptian journalist for the Qatari Al Jazeera TV network said that the Egyptian authorities released Hussein on Saturday, after more than four years in pretrial detention.

The Egyptian Authorities detained Hussein in December 2016 on charges of "spreading false news, belonging to a banned group, and obtaining foreign funds."

In a post on her Facebook account, Hussein's daughter Az-Zahraa said: "Thank God the decision to release Baba has been implemented. Today, Baba is in his house. Thankfully."
