Egypt Received 7 Million Tourists during First Half of 2023

A meeting of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion took place at the Ministry's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.

During the meeting, the participants discussed the most important indicators of the incoming tourism movement to Egypt during the period from January to last June.

However, the number of incoming tourists exceeded the threshold of 7 million tourists for the first time in the history of tourism in Egypt, which contributed to achieving the target of the tourism industry in Egypt to reach 15 million. One million tourists during this year.

Over the meeting, Amr El-Kady, CEO of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion, gave a brief presentation in which he reviewed the most prominent activities carried out by the authority during the period from April to June 2023, including participation in various international exhibitions such as the WTM Latin America 2023 exhibition in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and the Arab Tourism Forum ATM2023. in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), and IMEX 2023 in Frankfurt, Germany.

In addition to those activities, the authority has implemented a number of joint promotional campaigns in the various tourism markets with professional companies from international tour operators, along with organizing a number of hospitality and introductory visits for some official delegations, representatives of various media outlets, bloggers, influencers and tour operators from different tourist markets to introduce them to the Egyptian tourist destination. And its diversity.

The members of the Council were also briefed on the advertising campaigns that were implemented in many of the targeted international markets under the title "Your Expectations are History," including electronic advertising campaigns on some social media platforms and campaigns through various means.

During the meeting, reference was made to the authority's sponsorship and participation in many internal activities and events, such as artistic events, concerts, sports tournaments, and tourism awareness competitions, including the Fashion Week in Egypt, Cairo Food Week, Cairo Photo Week, and the Egyptian soprano Amira Selim's concert at the National Museum of Civilization.

Also, the Egyptian composer Omar Khairat gave a concert at the Sphinx in the Pyramids of Giza, the El Gouna Touring Squash Championship, Heliopolis Week, Heliopolis Heritage, and other activities and events.

Officials of Egyptian tourism engaged in an extensive discussion of the international tourism exhibitions in the main tourism markets exporting tourism to Egypt of all kinds was presented and approved, whether general or specialized tourism exhibitions such as incentive tourism, conference tourism, diving tourism, and golf tourism, for the fiscal year 2023/2024, especially in light of the importance of participating in these exhibitions to promote tourism to Egypt and highlight the tourism potential of the Egyptian tourist destination abroad.
