Egypt's Naela Gabr, the Chairperson of the National Coordinating Committee for Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons (NCCPIM&TIP) participated in the 33rd session of the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ) held in Vienna, last week.
The event, organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, was attended by over 1,500 participants from 128 countries, 18 international organizations, and 75 non-governmental organizations.
The session focused on ways to enhance international cooperation in criminal matters. During the committee's work, Ghada Waly, the Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, emphasized the urgent need for international cooperation in light of the increasing threats posed by organized crime worldwide.
"These threats undermine international peace and security and impede efforts to achieve sustainable development," she noted.
