The Egypt Space Agency and NASA signed on Wednesday a cooperation agreement, to launch educational satellites and the "NASA Kids" program which aims to educate children.
NASA concluded an agreement with the Scientific Research Academy worth EGP 4 million to implement 35 educational satellites of the CubeSat type for universities. In addition, there is a joint project between the agency, the Academy and the United Nations Committee for the Peaceful Use of Space with launching a satellite to monitor environment.
On other hand, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar the Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister, confirmed that the Egyptian space program, established by the state aims to build human and scientific capabilities, help in developing infrastructure and industrial development, building space mission systems, exploring outer space, and cooperating with foreign space agencies.
Also, Abdel Ghaffar indicated that agreements have been concluded with universities and research centers to form an applied academic research base in line with the National Space Program objectives as well as completing the researchers and specialists database in various space fields. He explained that Egyptian experts are able to implement these projects.
Educational Satellites
''Meanwhile, it was agreed in coordination with the central administration of missions, to train 50 final-year students in the fields of engineering, astronomy, computers and information in international space institutions,'' Abdel Ghaffar added.
