Egypt's Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Issa, held a meeting on Monday with H.E. Andris Razans, Latvia's Ambassador to Cairo, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between their countries in the field of tourism and antiquities.
They also discussed mechanisms to increase tourist traffic from Latvia to Egypt.
During the meeting, the Minister welcomed the Ambassador and praised the strong bilateral relations between Egypt and Latvia. He highlighted the Ministry's efforts to promote tourism to Egypt, including joint promotional campaigns with international partners, especially tour operators and airlines in European markets. Issa also mentioned that the Ministry also plans to organize introductory visits to Egypt and sponsor events held in the country.
The Minister noted that the aviation incentive program has been extended until next April.
In turn, Ambassador Razans expressed his country's interest in cooperating with Egypt in the field of archaeological work. He also mentioned Latvia's admiration for Egypt as a tourist destination and expressed a desire to hold temporary exhibitions of Egyptian antiquities in Latvia.
