The second day of the Economic Conference - Egypt 2022, which is entitled "Egypt's Regional Role as a Center for Renewable Energy", is headed by Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy.
A number of concerned officials, investors, and chairmen of companies' boards of directors attended the session.
During the session, the minister discussed a number of themes related to new and renewable energy at the local level.
He indicated that based on the analytical data for wind in Egypt from the reality of the Global Wind Atlas program, an analytical study was prepared and the purchase price of kilowatt-hours of wind energy was determined.
He added that it was planned to enter new capabilities for wind energy, including 6 gigawatts equivalence.
With regard to green hydrogen, the minister indicated that a national strategy for hydrogen is being prepared and that a memorandum of understanding (MoU) has already been signed between the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), to obtain a grant to finance advisory work for the preparation of the national strategy.
This strategy is scheduled to be announced during the energy day of the COP27 conference.
