Egypt has denounced Israel's announcement to establish 780 new settlement units in the occupied West Bank.
“Egypt condemned the announcement by Israel of a plan to build nearly 780 new settlement units in the occupied west bank, as this considered a new violation of international laws and related UN Security Council resolutions,” Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.
Hafez reaffirmed Egypt's total rejection of the continuation of settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, urging their complete cessation.
Moreover, the spokesman stressed that these activities undermine the chances of a two-state solution based on international legitimacy resolutions, as well as the efforts exerted to resolve the conflict between the occupation and Palestine.
On Sunday, the Israeli government approved the construction of nearly 800 settlement units in West Bank, just three days before the inauguration of US President-elect Joe Biden.
