Egypt expressed on Tuesday concern over Turkey's intention to drill in the vicinity of Cyprus searching for oil and gas, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"The Turkish decision is a determination to take unilateral measures which increase the tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean region," the ministry noted.
It stressed the importance of not stoking the situation and committing to the provisions of international law.
Earlier today, Cyprus also raised concern about the Turkish move, saying: "It harshly violates the international law and ignores the European Union's calls to stop such illegal activities."
