The Egyptian Dar Al-Ifta, in a significant cultural initiative, hosted the exhibition "Russia-Egypt: Spiritual Relations Through the Ages."

The event was inaugurated by Dr. Shawki Allam, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, alongside the Russian Ambassador Georgy Borisenko, and Dr. Roshan Abbyasov, Vice President of the Religious Administration of Muslims of Russia. Notable attendees included ambassadors from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan, Morad Jatin, Director of Russian Cultural Centers in Egypt, and Sherif Gad, Secretary-General of the Egyptian-Russian Friendship Association.

During his speech, Dr. Allam highlighted the deep-rooted and historic relations between Egypt and Russia, noting their steadfast presence in the collective memory of both nations.

He expressed appreciation for the Religious Administration of Muslims of Russia for their significant role in fostering Islamic principles through conferences and competitions. He also pointed out Russia’s active participation in the General Secretariat of the Fatwa Institutions Worldwide, which promotes cooperation among 80 member countries.

Dr. Abbyasov extended his gratitude to the Egyptian Dar Al-Ifta for hosting the first exhibition showcasing the traditions of Islam in Russia—a milestone event. He delved into the long history of Islam in Russia, which dates back over a millennium with the first mosque built in the city of Derbent in 734 AD.

The exhibition aimed to correct misconceptions and present a true image of Islam in Russia. Dr. Abbyasov also acknowledged Egypt for supporting the education of young Russian Muslims at Al-Azhar University and expressed eagerness for continued collaboration between the two countries.

Morad Jatin shared his enthusiasm about organizing the first Russian exhibition at the Egyptian Dar Al-Ifta, which he believes will enhance the cultural ties between the people of the two nations. The exhibition included an array of Russian traditional handicrafts, further enriching the cultural exchange.
