The Head of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) Dr. Tamer Essam said on Tuesday Egypt was appointed by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a hub for exporting COVID-19 vaccines and drug technology.
Essam asserted that Egypt didn't postpone working on its domestically manufactured vaccine during the pandemic.
He added that the EGY-VAX COVID-19 vaccine has been locally manufactured with 100%, and it was developed by Egyptian scientists.
In the same context, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Health and Population, announced the beginning of the clinical trials of the EGY-VAX vaccine.
The event was attended by Minister of Agriculture Dr. Al-Sayyed Al-Qusair, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar.
