The European Commission (EC), under the laws to help member states overcome temporary energy crises, has approved a €2.08 billion French plan to support the production of offshore wind electricity.
That plan contributes to achieving France's energy and environmental goals as well as those related to the EU's renewable energy strategy and the European Green Deal.
The commission stated - in a press release published on its official website, that "France has notified it of its intention to support the construction and operation of a floating offshore wind farm in the sea off the coast of Brittany.

The floating offshore wind technology is in its initial stage in France; so far only small pilot projects have been developed. The floating offshore wind farm supported by this measure will be the first commercial project of this kind in France.
It is expected to have a capacity of 230-270 MW. and to generate 1 terawatt-hour of renewable electricity annually for 35 years.
