The famous Jumanji actor Dwayne Johnson along with his mother Ata Johnson talked about some of his past struggles earlier today, Saturday, November 28th in a video posted on his official Instagram account @therock.

Johnson decided to talk about the Thanksgiving of 1987 because this year in particular was a really hard year for his 15-year-old self and his family, “That Thanksgiving, 1987 was the hardest one we had,’ the actor explained before his mother added “I will never forget it.”

The Johnson family was evicted off the island of Hawaii and forced to move to Nashville earlier that year. However, things still did not work out for the family in Nashville and they were forced to move yet again eight weeks later to Bethlehem in Pennsylvania.

And on Thanksgiving of that year in Bethlehem, the family was going through some really tough times that they simply could not afford a Thanksgiving meal.

But thankfully they got a call from some new friends they had inviting them over for Thanksgiving dinner, “My first thought was just being so grateful and thankful that yes we can have a Thanksgiving,” The actor’s mother explained her feelings about that invitation.

The family then went over to their friends who were currently living in a small trailer for a nice and beautiful Thanksgiving dinner during which the hostess asked Ata to lead the prayer. But of course due to everything that her family was going through Ata could only finish the first few lines before breaking into tears of gratitude despite everything because she and her family are celebrating Thanksgiving nonetheless.

“Stay Strong, have faith, things will get better,” Dwayne said at the end of his video to encourage everyone who is currently going through some hard and tough times to ensure them that it will all work out eventually.
