Renowned Egypt's composer Omar Khairat and the Opera Orchestra will reunite with his Cairo’s wide fan-base in two big winter concerts next week as he plays some of his most notable works.
Under the direction of maestro Nayer Nagui, Khairat will perform in his favorite venue - the Cairo Opera House’s Grand Theatre on Dec. 11 and 12 - with tickets sold out weeks in advance.
Born in Cairo, Khairat joined the Cairo Conservatoire in 1959, studied piano with Italian Maestro Vincenzo Carro and followed correspondence courses in music theory and composition with the Trinity College in England.
Throughout his outstanding career, he has composed musical scores for numerous films and television series, including The Sixth Day (1984), The Terrorist (1993), Mafia (2002), Girl’s Love (2003), The Embassy is in the Building (2005), and ‘Deer’s Blood’ (2006).
He also rearranged some works of the great composer Mohamed Abdel Wahab like Wahabiat 1 and 2 in addition to songs of Um Kulthoum which achieved great success due to his achievement of developing his own signature style of composing.
