Mauritania's Culture Minister Mokhtar Ould Dahi Sunday night said that cases of the highly infectious Delta variant of coronavirus have been detected in Mauritania.
Ould Dahi, who is the official spokesman for the Mauritanian government, said a group of measures are now in place after Delta infections were reported in the country.
He was speaking in a press conference after a government meeting yesterday. New restrictions have been imposed to curb the spread of the pandemic in Mauritania.
The Mauritanian government agreed on maintaining a curfew in the country, obligatory mask-wearing outside home and launching an awareness program in all cities. (MENA)
