The global death toll of new coronavirus "COVID-19" is dramatically increasing, hitting 70,344.

Meanwhile the number of coronavirus confirmed cases registered one million and 285 thousand and 285 cases globally.

Italy remains the worst-affected country with 15,887 deaths so far, followed by Spain (13,055), the United States (9,648), France (8,078) and the UK (4,934). The silver lining is that the number of deaths, as well as confirmed cases, have started to fall gradually across Europe, including Italy and Spain.

On the other hand, the US is in first place with the absolute number of COVID-19 cases (336,851 cases, including 178 cases in the last 24 hours) and 9,620 deaths (4 in the past day). Spain has surpassed Italy with the absolute number of coronavirus cases registering 3,386 new cases in one day, and a total of 135,032 cases, meanwhile Italy reported 128,948 coronavirus cases.

Germany is in fourth place with the number of cases (100,132), followed by France (92,839), China (81,708), Iran (58,226), Great Britain (47,806), Turkey (27,069) and Switzerland (21,176).

A UK Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee issued a report on Monday to criticize China, accusing it of lying, causing the killing of people and hindering the world's fight against the new coronavirus, "COVID-19".

"Disinformation about COVID-19 has already cost lives," the committee found.

"It is essential that the government issues clear and transparent messages at home to confront and rebut disinformation spread by foreign powers." the committee added.

It is noteworthy that the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who was detected with the coronavirus more than a week ago, was taken to a hospital Sunday for test.

According to BBC, the Prime minister has been hospitalised based on his doctor’s advise.

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared coronavirus a global pandemic on March 11 as the new virus has rapidly spread around the world.

More cases of the virus, which causes respiratory disease COVID-19, continue to emerge, with outbreaks in South Korea, Italy, and Iran.

People across the globe partake in self-isolation for 14 days as an effective precautionary measure to protect those around them and themselves from contracting COVID-19.

Transmission of virus between humans happens when someone comes into contact with an infected person’s secretions, such as droplets in a cough.

It can also be transmitted by coming into contact with something an infected person has touched and then touching your mouth, nose or eyes.
