Death Toll from Landslide in Malaysian Campsite Rises to 23

The death toll from a landslide that occurred in a Malaysian campsite has risen to 23.

The head of the Selangor State Fire and Rescue Department, Norazam Khamis, said - according to Singaporean Radio Channel News Asia in its English bulletin - that two more bodies of a boy and a woman were recovered today, Saturday.

This comes at a time when the rescuers continued the search for the missing persons this morning after it was halted during the night due to heavy rains, as 10 people are still missing.

As a result of the landslide, 94 people were trapped while sleeping in an unauthorized campsite in Batang Kali, a mountainous area about 50 km north of Kuala Lumpur. 61 people were rescued, including 3 citizens from Singapore
