Several civilians were killed and injured in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, yesterday (Monday), in renewed fighting between the army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), following the end of the fragile truce that lasted for 3 days since last Saturday.
However, the United Nations (UN) said in a statement that the Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Volker Peretz, and a limited number of international staff will remain in Sudan to continue working towards resolving the current crisis and to return to the tasks assigned to the United Nations.
Eyewitnesses said that they saw the army's military aircraft bomb the Kalaka suburb, south of Khartoum, with missiles at about 11 P.M.
People from the area added that the strike targeted several houses and destroyed them, causing injuries among its residents.
For its part, the Sudanese Doctors Syndicate said in a statement, on its official Facebook page yesterday: “Different areas in (Khartoum) were subjected to violent bombardment with various weapons, which resulted in the death of several citizens in the Kalaka area, and the Turkish hospital was crowded with a large number of injuries.” The dangerous situation exceeds 50 injured.
