Cycling Geckos Revives Ghandhi’s Values

To celebrate legendary Mahatma Ghandhi’s sesquicentennial birth anniversary, the Embassy of India organized a cycling ride. The event took place in coordination with the prominent group Cycling Geckos.

The cycling ride started at 9:00 am from Al-Dokki and concluded at the Embassy’s premises in Zamalek. Matching with Ghandih’s ethical messages, en-route cyclists distributed food supply kits to a few needy families in the neighborhood.

In this regard, Second Secretary Kshitij Tyagi told SEE, “To revive Ghandhi’s memory principles, we have been arranging a series of events. We are delighted with the Cycling Geckos’ activities, so we decided to collaborate with them.

“Another juvenile is to grow 150 saplings in Cairo, yet the place is not decided.”

Noran Salah Gives a Background about Cycling Geckos

Cycling Geckos’ founder Noran Salah gave SEE a brief about the group, “I started cycling three years ago. I was not comfortable with the spotlight on me because I believe it is an ordinary act and the bicycle is a run-of-the-mill mean of transportation.

“In order to change the stereotype about females cycling in Egypt, we decided to dole out foodstuffs popular areas during the Holy Month of Ramadan. As we were intending to deliver righteous messages, people there were respectfully treating us.

“We cycle from Cairo to Egyptian cities to aid people there twice a year. We already sojourned in Fayoum, Banha, and Sharkia.

“Speaking about this event, the Embassy saw that our acts are matching up with Ghandhi’s values. Thus, we arranged this juvenile together.

The gathering concluded with the attendees enjoying Indian food including shambusa, ram gelipi, and tshitni.
