Moreover, a spokesman for the Louisiana State Police reported, that the staff were called in to investigate the cyberattacks, but declined further comment. The Governor’s office explained, that they could not comment on an ongoing investigation.

Louisiana's Cyberattacks

On last November, the New Orleans city, had its own cybersecurity breach, forcing the entire city government to shut down electronic systems until the virus was purged. That process took months. Noteworthy, the FBI has warned that “foreign actors” are attempting to interfere in the 2020 elections.

On Wednesday, intelligence officials explained that Russia and Iran had acquired voter registration information, and that Iran was behind threatening emails sent earlier in the week to registered Democrats, urging them to vote for Trump.

The Iranians made it appear that the email came from the Proud Boys, which is a violent far-right group that supports President Donald Trump.
