Culture Min. Approves Activities of Egyptian Academy of Arts in Rome

Dr. Inas Abdel Dayem, Minister of Culture, approved the agenda of the cultural and artistic activities of the Egyptian Academy of Arts in Rome, Italy, under the supervision of Dr. Heba Youssef.

Abdel Dayem said that the Egyptian Academy of Arts and its artistic and intellectual activities in Rome represent the window and the gateway of Egypt's soft power in Europe.

Its strategy aims at achieving sustainable development by emphasizing the Egyptian cultural leadership.

On her part, Dr. Youssef said that the new season of the Egyptian Academy of Arts in Rome carries the slogan “Culture is the Mirror of Peoples ... Egypt and Italy- A Dialogue Of Art And Creativity”

The new season begins by the end of November; it will include organizing an exhibition of plastic art entitled "Aswan between the past and the present"- as part of the celebrations of the selection of Aswan as the capital of African youth.

A concert by Aswan Folk Art Troupe that symbolizes the Egyptian folklore in the south will be displayed in addition to screening a number of documentary films about the city.

The minister said that the program of activity for this season 2019-2020 depends on several main axes including hosting the students of the State Creativity Award -the batch of artist Gravity Serry- in the Egyptian Academy In Rome and promoting the concept of cultural identity.

The event will host some important events including: - celebrating the World Arabic Language Day in cooperation with the Arab League, organizing symposium about the artistic values of Arabic calligraphy, organizing workshops on Arabic calligraphy.

She added that the activities includes :- establishing a cinema club in the Academy, presenting a concert for the Egyptian Opera House Ensemble ,organizing an exhibition on the mutual artistic influences between Egypt and Italy throughout the ages.

Furthermore, a lecture will be delivered on the Fatimid artistic influence in Sicily; workshops for traditional crafts and storytelling will be held; series of seminars about Egyptian civilization will be staged with the participation of Italian orientalists.

She added that the agenda includes celebrating the International Women's Day and International Day of Francophonie, organizing a festivity in cooperation with the Books House Organization on the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the Organization.

The agenda will also witness the inauguration the Egyptian Pavilion in Venice International Biennale of Architecture in cooperation with the National Authority for Urban Harmony, organizing a festivity to celebrate the great sculptor Mahmoud Mokhtar on the 100th anniversary of creating Egypt Renaissance statue.

Furthermore, Dr. Youssef added that the “Egyptian Opera, Egypt - The Road” will be translated into Italian to celebrate the anniversary of the Holy Family's journey.

The event will be concluded by a concert for the great musician Rajeh Daoud in July 2020.
