On Tuesday, Cuba's President Miguel Diaz-Canel, who is on a visit to Moscow, said in a plenary session of the State Duma that his country condemns Western sanctions against Russia.

He added that the causes of the Ukrainian conflict must be sought in the policies of the United States and NATO.

"Cuba vigorously condemns the sanctions unilaterally imposed against the Russian Federation. The causes of the current conflict in the region must be sought in the aggressive policy of the US and in NATO's expansion to the borders with the Russian Federation," he said.

Diaz-Canel stressed that Havana, while repeatedly condemning the sanctions imposed on Russia, supports a negotiated solution to the conflict in Ukraine.
