The Supreme Criminal Court and State Security "Department of Terrorism" in Fayoum governorate, west of Cairo, on Saturday, sentenced 28 members of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood (MB)- an outlawed organization, to life imprisonment (25 years) for attempting to kill 4 people by placing explosive materials in a motorcycle.
According to the lawsuit documents, the event dates back to September 2, 2015, when the defendants attempted to kill each of the victims, Ahmed Bilal Jumah, Ashari Muhammad Ahmad, Yasser Majali, and Medhat Morcos, with premeditation and stalking to kill them.
Investigations conducted by local police revealed that the defendants prepared explosive materials for this purpose. They placed the explosives inside a motorcycle and detonated it.
As the explosive material went off, it injured the victims seriously, as they happened to be in the scene by chance during the explosion.
The defendants intended to kill the victims, but the criminals did not achieve their purpose, and the injured persons were transported to the hospital, where they recovered later.
The Egyptian Public Prosecution charged the defendants with possessing and placing explosive materials- ammonium nitrate, and a decision was issued by the Minister of Interior, considering it to be the same as explosives.
The culprits used the forbidden material in a way that endangered the lives of citizens and their money.
According to police investigations, the defendants joined a terrorist group (Muslim Brotherhood), reviving the apparatus of the specific operations to target its opponents. They also formed specific committees in the form of cluster cells due to the difficulty of detection.
Since its overthrow of power in 2013, the terrorist MB group has been working against the interests of the Egyptian state by creating crises at times, and by doubting the state institutions and their ability to confront and resolve problems of the citizens at other times.
They carried out terrorist operations against the security forces and police stations.
