Crash of Two Light Planes in Tunisia Left Four People Dead, Injured

The official spokesperson for the Tunisian Civil Protection confirmed that two people were killed and two others were injured in the crash of two light aircraft in the Shatt El-Jerid area.

The Tunisian official explained that the first plane that crashed was boarding two Frenchmen, aged 60 and 62, who suffered light injuries, while the second light plane was found completely burnt, with the charred bodies of the pilot and his escort, who are also of French origin and are 78 and 55 years old.

The Civil Protection spokesman added that rescue teams of the department in Tozeur treated the injured and transferred the two charred bodies from the Shatt El Jerid area to the regional hospital in Tozeur.

The spokesman stated that the Tunisian Air Force directed a helicopter, which facilitated the process of finding the two planes and locating them, and providing the civil protection rescue teams with coordinates, which enabled the rescue personnel to reach the scene of the accident quickly and contributed to the success of the intervention.
