The Ministry of Health in Panama announced the registration of the first case of the mutated strain of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).
The infection was detected in a 40-year-old Zimbabwean citizen who had arrived in Panama coming from South Africa on January 5, while his trip had stopped in the Netherlands before reaching Panama, CNN reported on Saturday.
The ministry added that the patient has been isolated and is subject to the treatment protocol that is applied in Panama.
Noteworthy, the total number of cases of Coronavirus in Panama reached 305,752 cases, including 4,944 deaths.
