West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady said on Saturday that eight of the club's players are in self-isolation after contracting symptoms of coronavirus.

"I am relieved to say they are all showing mild symptoms and, along with their families, seem to be well, Brady said according to Telegraph

"But it is no more than a handshake, sneeze or cough away from any of us, so no one should be complacent," the vice-chairman added.

The West Ham squad all have fitness programs to do at home, with the current plan that they will resume training when this lockdown period ends on April 13.

Brady also said that the Premier League season could last to July once it resumes.

“When we – all Prem clubs – last spoke, we agreed to get going again as soon as possible," she wrote.

“And that games will run into July, if required, to get this campaign finished. This is the plan. This is what we want to deliver," Bardy added.

Coronavirus has affected many sports events around the world; many countries suspended their league and matches due to the virus concerns, which claimed the lives of thousands of people.

On Friday, UK’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson has tested positive for coronavirus, as the outbreak spreads across the country.

Johnson confirmed the news in a video posted on Twitter, saying: “Over the last 24 hours I have developed mild symptoms and tested positive for coronavirus.”

He continued: “I am now self-isolating, but I will continue to lead the government’s response via video-conference as we fight this virus. Together we will beat this. #StayHomeSaveLives”

The announcement comes days after Prince Charles was confirmed to be infected with the coronavirus.

It is worth mentioning that the World Health Organization (WHO) declared coronavirus a global pandemic on March 11 as the new virus has rapidly spread to more than 121,000 people from Asia to the Middle East, Europe, and the United States.
