Corona Infections  Increase  by 30% in   World after  Emergence of “BA.5” Mutant

Some countries across the world witnessed a noticeable increase in the infection with the Coronavirus “BA.5”, which raised fears of the emergence of a new wave.

And since the beginning of this month, the World Health Organization (WHO) has monitored an increase in cases of about 30%, mostly in Europe and the United States.

“BA.5” is characterized by its ability to evade the human immune system and with a rapid spread rate of more than “Omicron” by 4 times.

Experts say that the new mutant spreads in particular among people who have not been infected with the virus before, and its symptoms include persistent cough, runny nose, sore throat, and headache, in addition to fatigue. And night sweats in some cases.

"The worrying thing about BA.5 is its ability to evade immunity obtained from vaccination or from a previous infection, in addition to its rapid spread," said Dr. Anthony Fauci, the White House's chief medical advisor.

He added that  is the reason for the increase in the number of cases, adding that people who have been fully vaccinated and have their immunity boosted, are generally well protected from severe repercussions.”
