Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, Ministerial Coordinator and Envoy of the COP27 Climate Conference, said that the Egyptian presidency of the conference was keen that the COP27 Solutions Day presents ideas and projects for implementation
She added that this is a real proof of the possibility of implementation, and that the world sees different solutions in a number of sectors that we have focused on, such as energy, waste, transportation, and others, and we have launched several initiatives, including the Solid Waste 50 by 2050 initiative for Africa in cooperation with the World Bank and the United Nations Environment Program.
The Minister of Environment confirmed that to come up with an implementation conference, several topics were raised for the first time in climate conferences, including the issue of waste management, as well as nature-based solutions, linking climate to biodiversity, and mobilized partners
The minister pointed out that the parallel discussions taking place in the green zone of the conference provided an opportunity to hear informal voices, and the Egyptian presidency of the conference was keen on rapprochement between the blue and green zones to ensure that these voices are heard within the activities of the Day of Solutions at the Climate Conference in Sharm El-Sheikh
